CrossRestore

Works with NAKIVO Backup & Replication

Restore from NAKIVO, boot in Azure, AWS, VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox.

Transcript

Your servers are backed up in NAKIVO. Now you need one running somewhere else. Pick a recovery point. CrossRestore converts every disk and builds the VM in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or RackCorp. Or on your own hosts. VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix or Proxmox. Windows or Linux. One disk or many. CrossRestore. Join the waiting list at crossrestore dot com.

The checklist you run by hand becomes one job you watch.

Today

Every step by hand.

Find the recovery point and export the disk. Convert it, then fix its size and alignment. Upload it, build the VM and boot it. Then fix RDP, the firewall and the VM agent yourself.

With CrossRestore

One job you start in the browser.

Pick a VM and a recovery point. Choose the target, enter its settings, check the plan and start. The job ends with a started VM you can reach. The upload still takes the time it takes.

Your disk data moves between your own systems, never through ours.

CrossRestore is a small Linux appliance on your network, next to your NAKIVO Director. It asks the Director to run NAKIVO’s own export.

Not needed to restore

One job runs all five steps, from export to a started VM.

Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux guests restore into Azure, with the drivers and agent Azure needs. On Azure, CrossRestore restores and attaches every disk of the VM, boot disk first.

FAQ

Questions we get asked, answered plainly.

Does my backup data leave my network?

Not through us. The appliance runs next to your NAKIVO Director, on your network. Disks go straight from there to the cloud account or host you choose. Neither CrossRestore nor Cloud Ready Solutions keeps a copy.

What is the appliance?

A small Linux VM with a browser console. You install it next to your NAKIVO Director and open it over HTTPS on your own network. Exports and disk conversions run there, close to the backup data.

Where can I restore to?

You can restore into Microsoft Azure, AWS, VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V and Proxmox VE. Google Cloud, RackCorp and Nutanix AHV are coming soon. Windows Server and Ubuntu Linux guests restore into Azure, with the drivers and agent Azure needs. On Azure, CrossRestore restores and attaches every disk of the VM, boot disk first. Coming soon: msp console.

Can I reach the restored VM?

Yes. On Azure, CrossRestore turns on Remote Desktop and its firewall rule and installs the Azure VM Agent, so you can reach the restored VM.

Do I need my own NAKIVO licence?

Yes. CrossRestore works with the NAKIVO Backup & Replication setup you already have. It does not replace it.

What about Veeam and other backup tools?

NAKIVO only, for now. If you use another backup tool, tell us on the early-access form. That shows us where demand is.

What does it cost?

CrossRestore is priced per protected VM, per year. Ask for early access and we will send you the price.

Who installs CrossRestore?

Partners install it for their customers, and Cloud Ready Solutions backs them up. For our 10 early-access customers, we do the install ourselves and run the first restore with you.

What if Cloud Ready Solutions stops trading?

The appliance runs on your own network and does not need our servers to restore. Your backups stay in NAKIVO, and restored VMs stay in your own cloud account or host.

Is CrossRestore made by NAKIVO?

No. CrossRestore is an independent product from Cloud Ready Solutions in Brisbane, Australia. We also distribute NAKIVO, but NAKIVO does not make, sell, endorse or support CrossRestore. NAKIVO is a trademark of NAKIVO Inc.
